Enjoy a new ‘Cinco’ Enchilada and Special-price Margaritas
HOUSTON… Cinco de Mayo (it’s on May 5, if you haven’t figured that out) is all about a 19th-century battle in which a basically untrained Mexican army defeated a seasoned, larger French army taking over the country, but more than a century later at Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen, it’s a lot more about tequila.
Oh, May 5 also happens to be National Enchilada Day which may or may not have anything to do with a place called Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen, but you might expect a little celebrating in the wrapping department as well.
Yes, on Sunday, May 5, come to either Sylvia’s location for brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and enjoy Sylvia's House Margaritas for $6.50; Sylvia's Skinny Margaritas made with Demetrio Blanco Tequila for $10 each; and The Perfect Casamigo Margaritas for just $11.
As for National Enchilada Day? Beginning at 3 p.m., owner Sylvia Casares will be serving up a special ‘Cinco de Mayo Enchilada’ saluting the region in Mexico where the battle took place. The battle was fought near the city of Puebla, long credited for being the birthplace of mole, so Sylvia has come up with an enchilada made with mesquite-grilled chicken, wrapped in fresh made tortillas and topped with Sylvia’s own famed mole sauce. It’s sold ala carte for just $3.50 each.
